The meeting was held at the Shaws , Lot 96 Birch Island and convened at 10:00 am.
Orland opened the meeting, thanked everyone for coming and noted the focus for the meeting was to
decide on the distribution of roles in the new executive. He suggesed it was time for the oldtimers to step
aside and let the new comers step up.
1.
Minutes of June 2007 Executive Meeting
The minutes were reviewed and approved. (Moved by Orland, seconded by John F.)
2.
Treasurer’s Report
Alice was unaware of the meeting and so did not have her books with her. .Here is the current
status. “
As of Sept. 6th, the amount on hand was $3,415.57 with $30.00 owing for signs
delivered. “

Updating Constitution

Page 2
Orland mentioned that the constitution was long overdue for review and updating and that he
would be willing to take that on.
5.
Signs
John Feltmate will move to the side the sign that is currently centered on the main path leading to
the meadow and Hortons. He will wait for money to be available next year to purchase and
install any additional signs.
6.
Membership
Wendy Butler has offered to assist with membership recruitment. Ceyhan has volunteered to be
membership co-ordinator and has already spoken with Wendy. She will be contacting Bill
Johnson for his thoughts.
7.
Dock Carts
Orland noted that the lettering on the dock carts has faded and there may be a cracked wheel on
one. Sharron offered to redo the letters and will check out the carts this year when she and John
move them for storage at their cottage.
8.
Garage Sale
Well the turnout was sparse for this event. More buyers then sellers. General concencus was to
give the idea anotrher try. With better promotion it may well work out. It was suggested that
`we.... Solicit people to list items on the website, stress items can be NEW or FREE, set a date
early this year, publize early & post signs on dock.
9.
Reid's 30
th
Annual Canoe Race
This annual event took place on the Sunday of Labour Day weekend. Orland and Sylvie won
with a winning time of 36 min 19sec. (Actually that is the slowest winning time ever!) This will
be the last year for the race. I think 30 years is a pretty impressive feat and many of us and our
children and firends have lots of fond memories. Many thanks to the Reids!
Rights of Way – Errors and Ommissions
John Feltmate recently had a conversation with Ray McMann regarding rights of way errors
and/or omissions impacting some of the Birch Island properties. Ray indicated an interest in
helping resolve these situations. One of the reasons for some properties not having full right of
way access dates back to the initial purchases - some of which were registered before all surveys
were completed and filed. The executive wondered what our role would be in this matter and it
was decided that John would draft an information item. It would cover who might be affected,
why it may be a matter of concern, what can be done to rectify any problems etc. Sharron will
work with John F. on the document.
Next meeting planned for early May with discussions and some work being done via email in the
interim.
