BIRPOA focuses on the unique interests of islanders and fosters a sense of community. Some ongoing activities:

• Communications: Members receive regular updates via newsletters, e-mails and the annual general meeting. Visit the new website www.birchisland.info
• Trails & Roads: The association ensures the interior trails and roads are maintained for islanders recreational use and enjoyment. Improved signage is planned for this year.
• Representation: The association monitors activities of other lake associations, waterway authorities, the municipality and other levels of government. Highlights are shared with the island community. Your views are represented.
• Survey: Take a moment to let us know your interests and ensure the association is relevant to you.

Benefits include

• Receive: A list of civic addresses and property owners updated annually; a map of the island showing right of ways, roads, trails and property locations. Get to know your fellow cottagers and be able to contact them if you spot a problem.
• Give direction to the association on activities and priorities. Let the association keep you up to date on issues such as water quality, recreational boating, conservation authorities and Parks Canada. Make your concerns known regarding increased property assessments and growing tax bills.
• Participate at the annual general meeting. Find out about island and local events. Use the website to post notices, list or find articles for sale/free; find a sailing, tennis partner etc.
